New Laws for All Double Glazing Suppliers

Important news for everyone considering purchasing replacement UPVC windows.

As of 1st October 2010, everyone must be aware that they need to consider the BFRC rating of the double glazing they are buying.

The BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council) scheme is the UK’s national system for rating energy efficiency of windows and is recognised within the building regulations as a method to show compliance for your replacement windows installation.

The windows that we select for our homes bring light, warmth and beauty into them. Poorly selected windows are a major source of heat loss in the winter. Energy efficient windows, when correctly selected and installed will help to minimise the heating costs.

Windows are rated using a familiar A to G scale on the basis of their total energy efficiency. Here at tradewindowsonline, all our double glazed windows are C rated as standard. The exception to this is sliding sash windows which will be supplied at B rated as standard. On both styles of windows you can always choose the option to upgrade to an A rated efficiency. Our A rated windows have an energy rating of 3 and our C have an energy rating of -13.

*At present doors do not require to be energy rated.
